Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to your files and data when you use PDFiLike.

Last updated: June 2025

The Short Version

Most of PDFiLike's tools process your files entirely inside your own browser using JavaScript — your PDF, Word, Excel, or image file is never uploaded to any server at all. The processing happens on your device, the result is generated on your device, and the download comes from your device's own memory. We have no copy of these files, because they never reached us in the first place.

A small number of tools (noted on each tool's page via an engine badge near the upload button) may use additional in-browser libraries to handle more complex formats, but the same principle applies: processing happens locally, not on a remote server.

What Information We Collect

Files you upload

We do not collect, store, or have access to the contents of any file you process using PDFiLike's tools. Because processing happens in your browser, your file data is never transmitted to our infrastructure.

Basic usage analytics

Like most websites, our hosting provider may log standard, anonymized technical information (such as approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and performance purposes. This data is not linked to the content of any file you process.

Information you provide directly

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry. We do not require an account or any personal information to use PDFiLike's tools.

How PDF Password Protection Works

The Protect PDF and Unlock PDF tools use a real, standards-compliant PDF encryption library that runs in your browser. When you set a password, the encryption happens locally using your device's own cryptographic capabilities (the Web Crypto API). Your password is never sent anywhere — including to us. If you forget a password you set, we have no way to recover it, because we never had it.

Cookies

PDFiLike does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Your browser may cache static assets (like our JavaScript libraries) for performance, which is standard browser behavior and not used to identify or track you personally.

Third-Party Libraries

The tools on this site are built using open-source libraries loaded from public content delivery networks (CDNs), including pdf-lib, pdf.js, Tesseract.js, SheetJS, mammoth, docx, jsPDF, and JSZip. These libraries run inside your browser and do not transmit your file data anywhere. Loading these scripts may result in a request to the CDN provider for the script file itself (standard for any website using a CDN), but this is separate from, and does not include, any of your document content.

Children's Privacy

PDFiLike is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store your file content, there is generally nothing for us to delete, export, or correct on your behalf regarding document data — it was never in our possession. If you have provided us with personal information via email correspondence, you may request that we delete that correspondence at any time.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change how PDFiLike handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
